ARTS BASED HEALTH AND WELLNESS PROGRAMS
FOR MILITARY VETERANS

This page is private – intended to document Gateway’s programs for military Veterans and encourage ongoing support of these programs.

Since April 2020 Gateway Performance Productions has provided ongoing live virtual arts programming for military Veterans with Gateway master teaching artists Sandra Hughes and Michael Hickey. These programs include creative writing, acting, drawing/sketching and mime classes.

During 2022 Gateway in association with the Little 5 Points Community Center provided ongoing in-person arts programs to formerly homeless military Veterans – temporarily housed at the Ft. McPherson domiciliary in Atlanta, GA. Sandra Hughes and Michael Hickey worked onsite with  health and wellness staff at the domiciliary. Veterans participated in classes in acting, creative writing, drawing, mask making and mime as well as  performances and a field trip to the Gateway’s venue – The Mask Center.  This project was funded by the Fulton County Veterans Service Program in GA.
